IJN Maya – Takao-Class Heavy Cruiser, 1944

The IJN Maya was one of Imperial Japan's most formidable Takao-class heavy cruisers, rebuilt in 1943 as a dedicated anti-aircraft cruiser following the lessons of Guadalcanal. She met her end at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944 — struck by two torpedoes from the USS Dace and sinking in minutes, taking most of her crew with her.

This hand-assembled 1:700 scale model captures Maya in her final 1944 anti-aircraft configuration, featuring her distinctive clustered 25mm AA gun mounts, reinforced bridge structure, and the lines that made the Takao class the most powerful cruisers of their era.
